R&D Center

The R&D center of CCGB covers an area of 4,500 square meters. There are more than 120 professionals include 5 doctors and 65 masters. The number of professionals with bachelor degree or above accounts for more than 80%.



After more than ten years of development, the R&D center has become the first provincial-level engineering technology research in the industry, forming a technological innovation system that integrates R&D, testing and results transformation.

CCGB's R&D center has a total investment of more than 50 million yuan. The main instruments are Quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer, LC-MS, GC-MS, Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS), Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography(UPLC), etc. The small test equipments include ultrasonic extraction, microwave extraction, steam distillation, nano grinding, homogenizer, membrane filtration, spray drying, vacuum drying and other equipment, which can meet the operation of conventional plant extraction technology unit.


Research and development content

The R&D department develops Natural colors, Natural spice extracts and essential oils, Nutritional and pharmaceutical extracts, Oils and proteins, and Microencapsulated applications.

Natural colors products: Capsanthin, Curcumin, Lutein, etc.

Natural spice extracts and essential oils: Capsicum oleoresin, Pepper extract, Garlic extract, Ginger extract, Rosemary plant extract, etc.

Nutritional and pharmaceutical extracts: Lycopene, Crystal of  Lutein, Grape seed extract, Stevioside, Ggreen coffee bean extract, Capsaicin, Ginkgo extract, Lutein, Inulin

Oils and proteins: mainly involved in Cottonseed protein, Gossypol acetate, Raffinose, Cottonseed oil, etc.


Science and Technological achievements

Ⅰ.52 national, provincial and municipal science and technology-related awards, including 2 second prizes for national scientific and technological progress, and the first prize for scientific and technological progress of China Light Industry Association.

Ⅱ.64 scientific and technological projects, including 17 national-level science and technology projects such as the National Science and Technology Support Program, the National Torch Plan, and the National Key New Product Plan.

Ⅲ.20 scientific and technological platforms, including 5 National platform, such as National Enterprise Technology Centers and postdoctoral workstation. Hebei Natural Pigment Engineering Technology Research Center, Academician Workstation, Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base, International Science and Technology Cooperation Demonstration Enterprise. Hebei 11 province-level platforms such as the provincial and rural integration public service demonstration platform.

Ⅳ.Completed 35 scientific and technological achievements appraisal, including 9 “International leading” such as “Large-scale production equipment for extracting and separating natural products of pepper”, and 12 “International advanced” such as “Industrial production technology of lutein”.

Ⅴ.298 patents were applied, 181 were granted.

Ⅵ.167 papers were submitted, 112 were published.

Ⅶ.Cooperate with the United States Pharmacopoeia Commission to develop the Capsicum Red FCC standard and the Capsicum oleoresin USP standard;

Ⅷ.Participated in the preparation and revision of 47 international standards, national standards, international business standards, local standards of Hebei Province, among which 36 standards have been enacted. Capsanthin, Red Kermel Color, Capsicum oleoresin and Gromwell red were initiated by ChenGuang.

Aiming at improving the scientific research level of CCGB and training more outstanding talents with innovative ability to enhance the international influence and popularity of CCGB, we actively carring out forward-looking and high-level scientific research cooperation and exchanges.

Long-term plan

At present, CCGB is planning a R&D center in Handan, Beijing and Tengchong etc. respectively. In the Handan branch office, CCGB aims to build the world's leading R&D center for plant extracting. At present, the first phase of the R&D center has been completed and is planned to be put into use. The new R&D building has 5 floors and a total construction area of 7355 square meters. It has an open experimental area and a precision instrument room to meet the daily R&D and R&D product testing needs. The small test equipment area, the raw material storage room, and the cold storage can meet the small test experiment, raw materials and product storage; the terminal product research room, the sensory evaluation room, the physical property analysis room are used for the research and development of health products, foods, special medical foods and cosmetics; the construction of animal houses, microbiology laboratories, positive control rooms, cell culture rooms and supporting physical and chemical laboratories can meet the needs of end product efficacy evaluation.
